Pulitzer-winning poet Gregory Pardlo turns to prose in a memoir of fatherhood, race and ambition.
Gregory Pardlo won the 2015 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for Digest. This is his prose memoir of a middle-class African American family in a New Jersey Levittown. His father, Gregory Sr., was an air traffic controller who took part in the 1981 strike. Pardlo writes about the family’s bonds and about race, addiction, ambition and American culture. Ada Limón praises it as exceptionally well written.
