Against the Web
A Cosmopolitan Answer to the New Right
A left-wing broadcaster takes on Jordan Peterson, Sam Harris and the Intellectual Dark Web, and asks why their message found such a large audience online.
Michael Brooks, host of The Michael Brooks Show and co-host of The Majority Report, wrote this short book as a direct reply to the Intellectual Dark Web, the loose group of commentators who took YouTube by storm in 2018. He critiques its best-known figures, including Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson and Bret Weinstein, and examines the media environment that let them thrive. Against their appeal he sets out a cosmopolitan, left-wing alternative. Brooks died in 2020, the year the book was published.

A brilliant critique of the Right with very sharp insight on some of the shortcomings of the Left, this book is a must-read for anyone looking to understand how dishonest actors spread their propaganda.
