Against the Machine: On the Unmaking of Humanity
An anti-technology argument from a former environmental activist who became a Christian and left the grid.
Paul Kingsnorth argues that the modern technological order is not a set of tools but a system with its own logic, one that dissolves place, limit and the sacred wherever it reaches. There are a great many books like this. What distinguishes this one is its coherence, and that Kingsnorth has rearranged his own life around the claim.

Paul Kingsnorth, Against the Machine: On the Unmaking of Humanity. I’m not the sort of person to recommend these sorts of anti-tech books (they are a dime a dozen), but if you have to read one of them…this is maybe the most coherent, non-ridiculous, and philosophically oriented, in the good sense of course?
