John C. Bogle
Investor and Founder of Vanguard
John Bogle founded The Vanguard Group and created the first index fund available to ordinary investors, an idea widely dismissed at the time and now holding trillions of dollars. He argued relentlessly that costs compound against investors, that most active managers cannot beat the market once fees are counted, and that patience beats speculation. The Little Book of Common Sense Investing sets out the case plainly. He died in 2019.
