Alice Hoffman

Alice Hoffman is an American novelist best known for Practical Magic, whose 1998 film adaptation grew into a franchise, and for its prequel The Rules of Magic. She has written more than thirty books for adults, young adults and children, most of them touched by magic realism, where ordinary New England lives bend around something inexplicable. Here on Earth was an Oprah’s Book Club selection and The Rules of Magic a Reese Witherspoon pick. Family, and how much of it is inherited, is her recurring subject.
