Stewart Brand

Stewart Brand founded the Whole Earth Catalog in 1968, a compendium of tools, books and ideas that became a countercultural touchstone and an ancestor of the modern web. He went on to co-found The WELL, one of the earliest online communities, along with the Global Business Network and the Long Now Foundation. His books include How Buildings Learn and, most recently, Maintenance: Of Everything. Brand’s abiding subject is what survives across decades, and it shows in what he reads and recommends.
