Not the End of the World: How We Can be the First Generation to Build a Sustainable Planet

Hannah Ritchie

A data scientist's case that environmental despair is understandable and, on the numbers, wrong.

Hannah Ritchie works through air pollution, climate, deforestation, food and plastics, showing in each case what the long-run data actually says and where real progress has been made. Her argument is not that the problems are imaginary but that treating them as unsolvable guarantees they stay that way. She is deputy editor at Our World in Data, and the book carries that habit of checking the numbers first.

Hannah Ritchie, Not the End of the World: How We Can be the First Generation to Build a Sustainable Planet. An excellent book with sound conclusions, think of it as moderate Julian Simon-like optimism on environmental issues, but with left-coded rhetoric.
