Iranian Architecture: A Visual History
Iranian architecture photographed at length, for readers who may never be able to visit any of it.
Sohrab Sardashti surveys the mosques, palaces, bridges and gardens of Iran across many centuries, with the tilework and the geometry given room on the page. It is a fine picture book on its own terms, and it also serves a practical purpose for readers with no realistic prospect of seeing these buildings in person.

Sohrab Sardashti, Iranian Architecture:A Visual History. One of the very best picture books, both for intrinsic reasons and because many of us cannot expect to see these landmarks anytime soon if at all.
