Annie Dillard

Annie Dillard is an American author who won the Pulitzer Prize for Pilgrim at Tinker Creek in 1975, a book of sustained looking at one Virginia valley that refuses to make nature comforting. She writes about attention as a discipline and about the natural world as something stranger and more violent than the pastoral tradition allows. Her essays on writing are read almost as often as the nature books.
