Author
Virginia Woolf
Novelist & Essayist
Virginia Woolf was an English modernist writer whose novels moved fiction inside the mind, following consciousness as it actually runs rather than the orderly plots that preceded her. Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse are the best known, and A Room of One’s Own remains the sharpest short argument about why so few women had written books. She was also a publisher, running the Hogarth Press with her husband Leonard.
