Marilynne Robinson
Novelist & Essayist
Marilynne Robinson is an American novelist and essayist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2005 for Gilead and the National Humanities Medal in 2012. She taught at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop from 1991 until 2016. Her Gilead novels return to the same small Iowa town from different vantages, and she writes about religious belief as a serious intellectual position rather than a quaint one, which is unusual in contemporary literary fiction.
