Rashid Khalidi is Edward Said Professor Emeritus of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University and edited the Journal of Palestine Studies for many years. His work draws on family archives running back generations, which lets him write Palestinian history from inside the documentary record rather than around it.
The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine frames the conflict as a colonial one and organises it around six declarations of war, an argument that is contested and carefully sourced in equal measure.
