Emma is a literary agent whose marriage has thinned into logistics, and on her wedding anniversary her husband dies. Then she wakes and it is that morning again. Major uses the loop for grief rather than comedy: each repetition Emma notices something she had stopped seeing. It is a device that could be glib and is not, because the fix required is not saving him but paying attention.
