Daisy Jones & The Six
A 1970s rock band's rise and sudden breakup, told as an oral history where no two people remember it the same way.
The rise and abrupt implosion of a fictional 1970s rock band, told entirely as an oral history: competing interviews, contradictory memories, nobody quite admitting the same thing. Reid uses the form brilliantly, because the gaps between accounts are where the book lives. Daisy and Billy’s collaboration is electric and destructive in equal measure, and the reason the band split is withheld until it lands properly. Reads like a transcript you cannot stop turning.
