The Lying Game

Four friends at a boarding school on the Salten marshes invented a game of telling lies, with rules about who could be told and when. Seventeen years later a text message summons them back, because something has surfaced that they buried together. Ware writes atmospheric, tide-bound suspense in which the landscape does much of the work, and the tension comes less from who did it than from what long friendship makes people willing to protect.
