Unflinching

Mitic served as a sniper with the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan until he stepped on a landmine and lost both legs below the knee. Roughly half the book is about the sniper work and half about what followed: the rehabilitation, the marathons, and the harder business of deciding who he was afterwards. He is unsentimental about all of it.
