The Nasty Bits
Collected Varietal Cuts, Usable Trim, Scraps, and Bones
A gleefully uneven grab-bag of Bourdain's shorter writing, from travel dispatches to rants, collecting the scraps that didn't fit his other books.
A deliberately messy collection of Bourdain’s shorter pieces, arranged like a menu into salty, sweet, and bitter. He roams from the back alleys of global street food to score-settling essays about the restaurant world and celebrity chefs. Some entries are throwaway, some are superb, and Bourdain says so himself in wry footnotes. Taken together it is a candid look at a working writer and cook thinking out loud, unpolished and all the more entertaining for it.
