Daniel Kahneman

Daniel Kahneman (1934 to 2024) was an Israeli-American psychologist whose work on the psychology of judgment and decision-making reshaped economics. With his longtime collaborator Amos Tversky he showed that human choices depart from the rational models economists had assumed, work that helped found behavioral economics and earned him the label “grandfather” of the field. He won the 2002 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Late in life he reached a general audience with Thinking, Fast and Slow, his account of the two mental systems, one fast and intuitive, one slow and deliberate, that shape how we judge and decide.
