Journalist John Pilger collects reporting and essays that examine globalization from the vantage of those he sees as its losers, from Indonesian sweatshop workers to Iraqis under sanctions. He argues that international institutions and Western governments serve concentrated economic power while presenting it as progress. Pointed and polemical, the book reflects Pilger’s long career as an anti-establishment reporter, and Zeeshan Ali found its treatment of Iraq particularly impressive.
