Weather
A college librarian in the Trump years tries to hold her family steady as climate dread grows.
Jenny Offill’s 2020 novel is narrated by Lizzie, a college librarian whose family life and worries about climate change fill the pages. It took Offill around seven years, and it grew out of conversations with the novelist Lydia Millet. She researched climatology, psychology and survivalist blogs, and became involved with Extinction Rebellion. Weather was shortlisted for the 2020 Women’s Prize for Fiction.
