The Dark

Lemony Snicket, the pen name of Daniel Handler, wrote the story, and Jon Klassen illustrated it. Laszlo is afraid of the dark that lives in his big house, until one night the dark visits him and offers to show him something. Little, Brown published it in 2013, and it was shortlisted for the Greenaway Medal. Barrera bought it for the cover and has been a children’s books fan since her son was born.
