The Complete Poems

William Blake · 1977

A Penguin Classics edition of the poetry of William Blake, edited by Alicia Ostriker.

William Blake was an English poet, painter and printmaker, born in 1757. Largely unrecognised during his life, he became a seminal figure in the history of the poetry and visual art of the Romantic Age. He lived in London for his entire life except for three years in Felpham. His work embraced the imagination as the body of God. Olga Tokarczuk read his poetry in her youth and calls him a subversive, radical and extraordinarily original poet.
