Swastika Night
Katharine Burdekin's 1937 novel, written as Murray Constantine, imagining a world centuries after a Nazi victory.
Swastika Night is a futuristic novel by the British writer Katharine Burdekin, published under the pseudonym Murray Constantine. Published in 1937, it imagines a world where Hitler’s Thousand Year Reich has been realised. A cult of masculinity prevails and women are deprived of all rights. The book was forgotten for many years until it was republished in 1985. Chan Koonchung reads it as a cautionary tale about a state that could stay in power.
