Himalaya

Michael Palin · 2005

Michael Palin's six-month journey around the world's highest mountains, up to Everest Base Camp, with photographs by Basil Pao.

Written to accompany his 2004 BBC series, Himalaya records Michael Palin’s six-month journey around the Himalaya mountain range. The route covered only about 3,000 miles on the map but involved a great deal of climbing, taking him to Everest Base Camp at 17,500 feet, the highest point of the trip. Palin’s text is accompanied by photographs by Basil Pao, the stills photographer who traveled with the team.
