Beartown
A Novel
In a small town that lives for hockey, a violent act by a star junior player tears apart the community that has pinned its hopes on him.
Beartown is a declining forest town whose people have put their hopes in its junior ice hockey team. When a star player commits an act of violence against a teenage girl, families, friends and the whole community are forced to choose sides. Published in Swedish in 2016 and in English in 2017, Fredrik Backman’s novel is a study of loyalty, silence and courage, and the first of a trilogy continued in Us Against You and The Winners. It was adapted as an HBO series.
