Alone in Berlin

Otto and Anna Quangel are ordinary Berliners with no politics to speak of until their son is killed at the front. Otto begins writing anti-Nazi postcards and leaving them in stairwells across the city, an act so small it seems futile and so dangerous it can only end one way. Fallada wrote it in 1946, in a few weeks, from a real Gestapo file.
